Performance Years Enterprises is pleased to announce another release of one of Dick Landys famous Dodge quarter mile race cars!
The White Hat Special! The 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T – B/Stock Automatic 440. Dick raced this car in two classes, SS/EA & B/SA, depending on the track & classifications he was at. Dick often ran under records in both brackets.
As you notice the white vinyl top on this race car was to correspond with the sales campaign that Dodge was putting on at the dealerships with the Come See the Good Guys theme. Dick had his white Good Guy cowboy hat in the back window for good luck. We even included the hat in our die cast.
Dick has been campaigning Dodges since 1962, he remembers having at least 37 Mopar powered drag cars. Racing in Stock, Super Stock, A/FX, Funny Car & Pro Stock classes. Often winning National Events & setting World Records.
1967 was also the first year for the “Dick Landy Performance Clinics”. As Dick & his crew would travel across the nation attending the racing events, they would arrive a couple days early and put on these performance clinics at the local Dodge dealerships. “Dicks White Hat Show”, “Come out & meet the Good Guys”. Dick performed over 80 of these race clinic seminars across the U.S. in 1967. This was a way for Dick to reassure his fans that the parts & tricks he was telling them about really did work. Over 1000 race fans would attend his clinics at some of the larger race venues. Dick would give away red & white Dodge “Good Guy” race jackets & “Good Guy” white cowboy hats. For the grand prize, a drawing was held at the end of the season at the Tulsa Finals for the keys and the pink slip to a new Dodge Charger! Super Stock & Drag Illustrated Magazine was so impressed with the success of these clinics that they devoted a page each month called “Super Stock Clinic Corner” updating readers on the travels of the Dick Landy and Sox & Martin race clinics. Dick continued his Performance Clinics through the 1970 race season.
