This is a "First Shot Prototype" car from Hwy. 61 / Diecast Promotions", that was used to proof the colors & details prior to manufacturing...!

This car was acquired from "Fred Ertl III". I will be periodically adding these Sample Cars to the web site in the "** Factory Sample * Prototype Cars **" section located on the left margin under the "Special Interest" tab.

Prototype Production Sample Car..!

I purchased this sample car directly from Fred Ertl III.

This collectible Comes with "CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY"..!

*** Below are some of the several inaccuracies found on this FIRST SAMPLE CAR:

* The paint on this sample car was changed for the production cars...the paint on this sample car is a darker shade with with no metallic.

* The "GTO" emblem on the rear fenders were placed too low, changed on production cars.

* The "Hurst Equipped" AND "GTO" emblems on the trunk lid were placed right next to the chrome strip...the production cars were raised up higher.

* Sample car has red inner door panels...production car has an all black interior.

* The air cleaners are all chrome with no mesh detail around them.

* The battery caps are red...Should be YELLOW caps.

* The factory forgot to install a floor shifter.

* The gas tank should be painted silver with black straps...this sample car has reversed colors.

* The license plates were not assigned when this sample car was made. The production plates are IL. PR2991.
