This is a "Pre-Production SAMPLE Model" From "Hwy. 61 / Diecast Promotions".

This car was made to approve the color combinations of exterior & interior colors, graphics placement, options, wheels & tires, fit & finish prior to going into manufacturing production...!

This collectible does come with "CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY"..!

I purchased this sample car directly from Fred Ertl III / Hwy. 61.

The car is in very nice condition..!

This sample car does not come in a box..!

This is a Rare Factory Sample Car..!

*~*~* Some of the issues on this Sample Car that was corrected for the production cars. As seen in these photos.*~*~*

* The production car was a 2-tone red & white.

* This was the first front grill...there was no "OLDSMOBILE" letters in the grill & no black detail.

* This Sample car came with the no license plates.

* The white walls were too wide on the sample car.

* This sample car came with the "Black Wall" spare tire...the production car has the "White Wall" spare tire.

* The trunk well did not have the spackle paint job.

* Missing the Jacking Instruction decal.

* The interior seats & door panels did not have the correct seat pattern.

* Wrong color heater box & firewall.

* Wrong color valve covers & intake manifold.

* Air Cleaner should be gloss black.

* Voltage Regulator should be black.

* Battery caps are not panted.

* Wrong color battery cables.

* Radiator Cap should be silver.

* Missing the under hood decals.

* Transmission painted the wrong color.

* Wrong color mufflers & resonators.

* Missing the gas tank straps.

* Missing the "Super 88" fender decal.

* Missing the white painted detail on the side chrome spears.

* Missing the script details on the hood & trunk emblems.

* Comes with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY..!

Opening hood with correct scissors style hinges, doors open on real aspect type hinges & opening trunk, steerable front wheels, working front & rear suspension, drive shaft rotates with rear wheels, even the little hidden gas door under the left rear tail light flips open...!(check out the 3rd photo)
