Car Craft magazine had a series of articles documenting the advance of a used 1970 350 Chevelle with some desirable options when originally assembled at the California GM plant.The Chevelle had a 300 HP 350 engine, heavy duty 12 bolt rear axle and front disc brakes.

Car Craft rebuilt the Chevelle, increasing HP to 355, freshened the transmission, rebuilt the rear axle with a limited slip unit and 3.73:1 gears. Overall performance went from 16.62 at 83.23 mph in the quarter mile to 13.38 at 100.33, after the addition of a nitrous plate it was 12.29 at 109.3 mph.

A big block replaced the 350, the body panels were smoothed out, a cowl induction hood was installed, it repainted with a photogenic high gloss bright yellow color with black strips, a black vinyl top was added to match the black interior, the old wheels were replaced with 15 inch after market mag wheels. The end result, 11.00 at 120 mph in the quarter mile with a 125 horse nitrous set up.

The Chevelle was a Grand Prize in a magazine drawing in 2003..!
